It’s that time of the year, when Mrs Knowles-Carter releases a new collection of Ivy Park x Adidas. This new Ivy Park x Adidas collection is titled “Rodeo” and according to Harpers Bazaar the collection is Houston born and bred, just like the superstar herself. Beyoncé expressed that the biggest influences of this fourth collection are a mixture of her childhood growing up in Texas and a bit of American history. “I grew up going to the Houston rodeo every year” she added.
“One of my inspirations came from the overlooked history of the American Black cowboy. Many of them were originally called cowhands, who experienced great discrimination and were often forced to work with the worst, most temperamental horses. They took their talents and formed the Soul Circuit. Through time, these Black rodeos showcased incredible performers and helped us reclaim our place in western history and culture.”
I have been glued on what Adidas ZA has been doing in the last couple of days & weeks with the release of Adidas Forum, the customisations and campaigns and I just have to say I’m quite ecstatic that Xzavier Zulu and the rest of the team selected an array of creatives from different fields for the Ivy Park x Adidas Rodeo collection campaign. The creatives I speak of that were favored enough to be gifted the Ivy Park x Adidas Rodeo collection did a rodeo themed campaign shoot to flaunt their new pieces from the collection as well as their cowboy/cowgirl boots, hats & of-course new Ivy Park x Adidas sneakers include; Photographer Trevor Stuurman, visual artist Zandile Tshabalala, actress Siphesihle Ndaba, rapper Dee Koala, Ramba, Brooklyn Winter, funny man & YouTuber Okay Wasabi and lastly TV presenter & model Kim Jayde. The campaign also featured a number of other familiar faces.
They may not ride broncos, rope calves or wrestle steers, but they did sure step on our necks and snatch our wigs off our scalps.
