uSomnyama Omnyama “B4Now” Album Review.

His government name is Sihle Sithole, but we all know him as Blxckie, uSomnyama Omnyama, uSomnyama yena yedwa. He is a 21-year-old musical artist that hails from eThekwini. Blxckie is known for using his soothing melodic voice over a variety of different beats to create fresh new sounds.

Blxckie just dropped his sophomore offering B4Now and ever since I first heard “Big Time Sh’lappa” featuring frequent collaborator Lucasraps, I knew he was going to be the one to watch because ‘Big Time Sh’lappa’ literally lived up to it’s name by blowing up very hard and introducing us to uSomnyama as one of the hottest new acts in the city.

Having said that you’d expect this album to be like the singles he has dropped before, but Blxckie simply didn’t want to box himself, he wanted to display his versatility more especially in the opening song ‘Mama it’s bad.’ He sung only and there were no raps. We get to hear an ode to his mom about how life has changed since he moved to The City of Gold.

There are a couple more songs you can play and chill to from the album like ‘Hold’ and ‘Sika.’ For those who are dying to hear the Blxckie they first heard and fell in love with, this album has plenty of those to offer. From the second song ‘Stripes’, which features renowned rapper Flvme to one of the last singles he released prior to this album drop ‘Ye’ which features the zulu man with powers, Nasty C.

Ye’ was personally the most satisfying song for me, getting to hear them both on the same song was delightful. I wondered how long it would take before they did a collab and I’m glad it didn’t take that long. Next time Blxckie performs in or around your city definitely show face.

  1. This is the most beautiful body of music in the SA local rap game thus far and without any doubt should be at top for long time.

This boy deserves everything and more
