uSanele is widely known as the co-founder of boyz&bucks and a member of Spova gang, but a year ago he made a name for himself as a solo artist when he dropped his debut EP “Gangular” which is one of the most played EP’s on my cellular.
A few days ago, Usanele announced that he’ll be releasing his second EP titled “Umvelase” on the 16th of January 2020. I had the honor and pleasure of not only listening, but also seeing uSanele himself perform some of the unreleased songs (iCoùpe, Phumaphi & Buyela eKhaya) that are on the EP when I attended #JoinThePact at J&B hive in November 2019.
He mentioned that this particular project is very personal to him and that he has been working on it for some time now. There are slight differences between the sound on “Gangular” and this EP. “Umvelase” has various sounds, but the best way to describe it is that it’s heavy-trap with a hint of maskandi. He features the likes of AsapShembe, Windows 2000 and AyemaProbllem. Usanele also has song “inkondlo” on “UMvelase” that was written and sang by Manelisi.
“phumaphi” the fourth song on the EP featuring AyemaProbllem, 1/2 members of StiffPap is one of the hit songs on the EP according to me, from the delivery of both uSanele and AyemaProbllem, the beats and the overall sound and feel. While we’re still waiting on USanele to release the cassette tape version of the EP make sure you stream and download “UMvelase” on all online music streaming platforms.
