Held Close: Inside Maison La Poche showcase

Maison La Poche is a local brand rooted in thoughtfully curated, limited pieces and intimate experiences, meant to be shared, held, and experienced up close.

Picture this: it’s a warm, sunny Friday afternoon in Durban. You step into Bean Around the Block and, almost immediately, the outside world quietly fades. In its place, you’re welcomed into an intimate, private viewing of Maison La Poche’s latest collection, a space designed for closeness, conversation, and quiet appreciation.

Maison La Poche, in collaboration with contemporary clothing brand LISSÈ, invited us to a concept-driven experience that blurred the lines between fashion, film, and storytelling. Rather than a traditional runway show, the event unfolded as a carefully curated presentation, inviting guests to engage with the garments and accessories within close range.

Maison La Poche is built on the idea that what we carry is personal. La Poche, meaning “the pocket”, speaks to the small, intimate space where meaningful items are kept. The brand reimagines this through handcrafted, limited bags designed to hold more while remaining timeless, practical, and quietly elegant.

The showcase featured a short fashion film, a fashion presentation, and an interactive segment that invited guests to interpret what a Maison La Poche bag looks like to them. LISSÈ’s clean silhouettes and refined femininity complemented the accessories, creating a cohesive, minimal visual language.

Together, both brands leaned into a shared aesthetic of restraint, allowing form, texture, and emotion to take centre stage. At its heart, the event was about community. The intimate setting fostered conversation and connection, creating a moment of collective pause to celebrate the beauty of the collection and the experience itself.

More than a showcase, the event felt like a gathering, a moment of community brought together to celebrate fashion, storytelling, and the beauty of experiencing things up close.

In a fashion landscape often dominated by spectacle, Maison La Poche’s private viewing offered something quieter, a reminder that some stories, like the things we keep in our pockets, are best shared up close.
