Before calling it quits on love, we’re all prisoners to the mental gymnastics we undertake to try and make sense of any given situation. Most of all, we wonder to ourselves “How could I fall for you?” The same is true for Leigh Audrey as she contemplates the end of a relationship with her latest single.
Following the warm reception of her debut single, “Hold Me”, Leigh Audrey and Khimera come together again with the release of “Fall For You”.
The song sees Leigh crooning over the confusion, hopelessness and frustration that only comes with a relationship that just isn’t working. “So many ways I could have shown you love // Then again // So many days you could have just showed up,” she sings.
Vocally, “Fall For You” leans heavily into R&B/Soul, while its instrumentation pays homage to her South African heritage. Playing on the nostalgia of African percussion and chord progressions, Leigh Audrey croons about love lost while reminiscing over its joys.
Thematically, Leigh Audrey engages all stages of love, from its infancy to its death. On this, Leigh explains, “I always write about what’s true. I write about what’s honest and what I’ve genuinely experienced…When I write about love, it’s something that I believe my peers have experience with and know what it feels like. I write about love because it’s what I know.”
“Fall For You” marks the first official single off Leigh Audrey’s upcoming EP, scheduled for release in November 2024.
