Welcome to the very first episode of “Style Diaries”. On today’s episode, we had the awesome pleasure of discussing all things fashion and creativity with Luphumzo Cekiso aka Sir_luu…
Please may you introduce yourself and what you do.
I am Luphumzo Cekiso know as Luu by many. I currently reside in Kraaifontein a small township in Cape Town. I am a researcher and a aspiring fashion writer.
What inspires you when it comes to your love of documenting fashion and how people use it as a medium of expression?
Well, fashion is really fascinating, because it’s a form of self-expression that is constantly evolving. People use fashion to communicate who they are, what they like, and how they want to be perceived. It’s really inspiring to see how creative people can be with their style, and how they can use fashion to tell a story. I love how fashion can be a way to connect with others and share ideas, and I think that’s what inspires me the most.

How did you actually come up with the whole idea of sharing your content?
I wanted to create a space where people could come together to share their outfits and connect with others who have similar interests. I also thought it would be fun to see how people are expressing themselves through fashion in different parts of the world.
Outside of running your fashion account and being a fashion writer, what are some of your other creative outlets?
I do like to draw and create music really. I find that these activities allow me to express myself.
When you look at the fashion landscape in SA/Africa at large, what is your opinion when it comes to where we’re heading and how we’re contributing to the overall fashion scene at large?
The fashion here in South Africa is really unique and exciting. There are so many talented creatives who are pushing the boundaries of fashion and bringing new perspectives to the industry. I think South Africa has a lot to offer in terms of creativity, and I think the fashion scene is only going to continue to grow and evolve.
Thank you for taking the time to hang out with us as we officially get back into the swing of things. A big thank you to Luphumzo for being our guest. Till again next time, stay blessed.
