Established by Simphiwe Khumalo, who serves as both art director and creative director, Studio Bananaaa is detailed as a place created to express ideas and tell uniquely beautiful stories through art, fashion, music, design, photography & film.

Studio Bananaaa recently teamed up with Mamakashaka and SKYY Vodka as the fashion partner for the Pantone Sundays’ red edition. The colour themed fashion experience took place in two cities Cape Town and Johannesburg with a Studio Bananaaa’s pop-up store where guests had the chance to engage not only with the finely crafted Mama’s Boy knitted hats but also with a dainty typewriter, where they were encouraged to write letters to their mothers.

This perfectly aligned with their brand and proved to be an inventive approach to fostering a sense of community among their guests. Guests were not allowed to take their letters back home to their mothers and the following short film titled Love Letters to My Mother presented by Studio Bananaaa is the reason why.
