The Puma Parmelo was first released 42 years ago, in 1982. Dubbed after the city of Palermo in Sicily, Italy this sneaker draws some of its inspiration from the vibrant streets of the city. The collaborative efforts of Puma’s design team during the early 80s produced this iconic design that features a retro look with a suede upper, padded collar and the classic Puma branding.
It is quite evident that the design of the Parmelo was also heavily influenced by the football fan culture of the 80s combining casual and sporty styles. Now you might be wondering why we are still talking about this sneaker 42 years later, with the rise of the bloke-core aesthetic in recent years Puma has reintroduced this design capitalising on the nostalgia of the 80s fashion.
The newest Puma Palermo pack was released yesterday and is available at PUMA.com, PUMA Retail stores, Sportscene, Archive, Superbalist, Shesha and Al Capone retailing for R1799.
