The Rise of Nollywood 00’s Aesthetics & Themed Nightlife.

Nollywood in an uncomplicated and plain definition could be expressed as the Hollywood of Nigeria or maybe the Bollywood of Nigeria. But in a more thorough explanation, Nollywood refers to Nigeria’s film industry which is one of the biggest film industry in the entire African continent, releasing up to nearly 50 films per week which puts them in the middle of Bollywood which releases a lot more in just a week and Hollywood which releases lesser. “Nigeria’s Nollywood has developed into Africa’s giant in filmmaking.”

Nollywood movies are quite nostalgic not only to Nigerians and Ghanaians, but to many South Africans as well who grew up watching comedic Nollywood films starring John Ikechukwu Okafor (Mr Ibu) and how can I possibly forget Osita Iheme and Chinedu Ikedieze (Aki and Pawpaw) and sometimes the hair-raising and spine-chilling films that mostly starred Patience Ozokwor, but my absolute favorite Nollywood character is undoubtedly Dubem, The Fighter.

Nollywood now has major influence on the Gen Z with its array casts of beautiful Nollywood babes and baddies. From how they talk, walk, dress and have men wrapped around their fingers in the films they star in. Who would have ever imagined that girls in 2021 will be re-imaging themselves as a Nollywood babe from head to toe either for their YouTube channel, Instagram and even Tiktok ? Well it’s happening, the Nollywood 00’s aesthetics has taken over and I have to say I’m here for it all.

The influence of Nigeria’s prolific film industry spilled over into the nightlife and has become a theme of a number of parties in different parts on the world. A themed party has been a thing for centuries, but one never thought that from 2019 Nollywood themed parties will be emerging and become one of 2021’s biggest trend. All thanks to @nolly.babes & @yung.nollywood for being the ones who sparked the interest of Nollywood aesthetics upon the Gen Z’s.
