They say better late than never, trying to overcome the writer’s block that has had me in shackles for months and months has not been a walk in a park, but we are here now and I’m ready to make things happen.
Now moving on to this particular article, I believe everyone knows how much Culture Club – Magazine is into sustainable fashion. When we found out that Stan Smith himself will be adapting the sustainability “mega trend” and social movement we were more than impressed. The Stan Smiths are a timeless shoe with its crisp white and vivid emerald green hues, but what makes it even better now is that it’s going to be made into a sustainable fashion statement.

Adidas together with Stan Smith will be addressing the sustainability issues and steps that can be taken to prevent plastic waste with the hashtag, #endplasticwaste. It doesn’t conclude there, these two brands have found a way to get consumers to engage with this conversation and movement by encouraging them to collect empty plastic bottles and depositing them into Stan Smith’s branded vending machines in selected Malls.
“In April, adidas invites consumers to join the conversation and help end plastic waste by introducing reverse vending machines at Cape Town and Joburg’s most prominent malls: V&A Waterfront, Canal Walk and Sandton City. Spot a Stan Smith branded vending machine located at the busiest sections of the mall, and here’s what to do:”
- Bring along clean plastic bottles from home (plastic bottles up to 2L)
- Deposit your plastic bottles into the vending machines and you could win a discount to shop the latest Stan Smith shoe at an adidas Originals store or online:
- 10 bottles = R100 off
- 25 bottles = R250 off
- 75 bottles = R500 off
